Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec 2013

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

This ancient, walled vineyard has the estate's shallowest, stoniest soils. The wines are rich and intense. Many consider this to be Vouvray's finest single vineyard site. Size: 6 hectares. Undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in large, old oak demi-muids as well as stainless steel vats. There is no encouragement of the malolactic fermentation, thus many Huet wines remain rich in malic acid, a character that brings an age-worthiness to the wines. The concentration of residual sugar in demi-sec cuvées is traditionally around 10-20 g/l

Wine AdvocateStraw-yellow, almost golden in its color, Huet's 2013 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec displays a very clear, intense and aromatic bouquet of ripe, yellow-fleshed fruits and a discreet limestone flavor. More open, round and accessible today on the palate than the corresponding Le Haut-Lieu, this is a full-bodied, complex and mineral Chenin that shows a stunning elegance along with a lingering salinity in the very long, tension-filled and lovely aromatic finish. This is a very pleasant Chenin from this difficult vintage.

Wine SpectatorThis is nicely rendered for the vintage, with a steely, minerally spine buried in the core of apple, ginger, pear and quince flavors. Shows good focus, with a taut feel on the finish that should loosen in the cellar. Best from 2016 through 2020.- J.
