Wine EnthusiastMade from vines planted in 1939, this is serious and ageworthy. It is all juicy fruit and acidity, but with a strongly tannic structure and spice. Minerality comes from the granite soil, adding to the wine's potential. Drink from 2016.

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Chenas "Vignes de 1939" comes from the "Pic de Remont" vineyard on quartz and manganese soils and undergoes semi-carbonic maceration, with eight months on the lees in concrete tanks. It has a bright cranberry and strawberry scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy cranberry fruit, light tannins and a clean, fresh finish. Drink now-2016.

Wine SpectatorFresh and lightly floral, with hints of sandalwood and spice box accenting the creamy pureed cherry and plum fruit. A well-balanced sipper. Drink now. 750 cases made.
